Smile Lists

Years ago I started keeping lists of the things that made me smile in a day. I was deep into my first major depressive episode and this was my gratitude practice – a way to keep track of the reasons for joy in a very dark season of life. I kept a list daily for more than two years, and have kept them sporadically ever since. Recently, in the midst of a new depressive episode, I started keeping the lists daily again.
